  • I recently re-discovered these two pieces of Stangl Pottery, offered for “one money” as the auctioneers of yesteryear used to say.  Both pieces were done in the late 1950’s or early 1960’s and the finish is called “Antique Gold”, which is gold over a satin-green glaze.  The two pieces are as follows:
    (1)  A 6 1/4 inch pitcher which is fat or bulbous and has a pinched spout.  There is a long handle extending from the top of the pitcher to almost the bottom of the pitcher.  The bottom reads:  Stangl Pottery – Trenton, NJ – Patent Pending.
    (2)  An 8 inch Jeannie’s bottle-shaped vase – bulbous at the bottom and thinning out at the top.  This has the exact same glaze as the pitcher.  The bottom reads:  Stangl Pottery – Trenton, NJ – 4050 (which is the shape of the bottom) – Patent Pending.
The pitcher is in EXCELLENT SHAPE with no chips, no cracks, no discoloration, no damage at all.  The vase or Jeannie bottle is in GREAT CONDITION with a 3/8″ chip on the gold rim around the bottom of the vase – on the foot.  It is not so easy to see but I want to be 100 percent honest.  I have shown a photo of the blemish and a photo of the bottom of the bottle as well.
So, two great pieces of Mid-Century Modern Art Pottery by Stangl for one money.  I identified these pieces in the book “Stangl Pottery” by Harvey Duke (copyright 1993).  Please see the photos, check my feedback, and ask any questions before making a purchase.  You will really enjoy these two great pieces of Stangl Pottery!!
